My name is Helena Rubes and I’m fully dedicated to darts – with a professional mindset, discipline, and a clear vision.

Although I’m active on social media, I don’t see myself as an influencer, but as a darts player carving out her own path in the sport. No shortcuts, no poses – just all in.

I came to darts as someone who already had both athletic and professional experience.

My Background

Sporting and Professional Background

In the past, I was a competitive ballroom dancer in the highest performance category. I competed at both Czech and international events and was a finalist at the Czech National Championships.

When I started, I had a dream – to one day dance in the Winter Gardens at the Blackpool Dance Festival. That dream came true. Today I have a new one: to return. This time, as a darts player.

Outside of sport, I graduated from the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague. I worked as a Marketing Director in IT companies, led international projects, served as Executive Director of an ICT association, and organised conferences and workshops focused on sharing best practice between providers and clients – both in the private sector and public administration.

My Journey

My Journey to Darts

When I first saw darts on TV, I was surprised that at the top level, every player had a slightly different technique. From the perspective of someone used to structure and system, it seemed like an illogical sport.

But when I first held a dart in my hand, I was instantly fascinated. I wanted to understand how it works – and why. I was frustrated by all the unanswered “why” questions, and those became my biggest motivation.

At the moment, I don’t compete regularly. Until I feel fully confident with my technique, I prioritise training. Competitions are important to me – and I’m working towards them. I attend tournaments to observe how the competition environment personally affects me compared to home training.

Is that ridiculous?

Maybe. But it’s my journey. I’ve chosen to gain experience exactly where I want to compete – to define what a tournament, performance, nerves, and pressure mean to me from the start. And to work on the mental side of the game from the very beginning.

Goals and Vision

My Plans

2025: I’m dedicating 2025 to further development – collecting experience, not being afraid to change things, even if it means breaking what already works, if it leads to improvement. This year is about asking fundamental questions. About finding a throwing style I can build on and develop further. I want to gain experience both in training and through tournaments – mainly on the Challenge Tour and European Qualifiers.

2026: will be about competition. I want to make my throw consistent, improve my performance level, and become a serious opponent. Not just a player who wins a leg by chance. But a player who can win matches at this level – and keep moving forward.

My goals

My goal is to find out where the limits of my potential are. And maybe try to go beyond them.

Social Media

Why I create

Social media is a tool for me – not the goal. It’s my diary, my motivation, my discipline – in both training and sharing.

I try to create content that is visually engaging, understandable, and meaningful. I share the process. The daily routine, small joys, mistakes, lessons, and the hard work. I try to turn my routine into something that has purpose – and maybe even a bit of fun.

I also share because things often look too easy nowadays. We see success, but not the visible effort that came before. We don’t see the ones who gave up – or all the failures along the way. It’s not easy. It’s not free. And life (or people) won’t make it easier for you. Be it daily hate, or doubts trying to stop you – that’s part of it.

You have to trust yourself

Do it for your own reasons. And believe that the question isn’t if. The question is when.

Helena Rubes

I’m not a natural talent. I don’t have ideal conditions for this sport. But I have a mind, analysis, discipline, and a feel for movement. I have experience, resilience, and the courage to go against the grain.

I do things my own way. And I believe that is my strength.
